Community Heating CHP

Hestia has been appointed as consultant to community heating CHP projects and we are skilled in detailed option appraisal and business planning as well as tenant consultation for social housing schemes.

Hestia works closely with the Combined Heat and Power Association. We also have good relationships with the leading suppliers of CHP and district heating equipment. Biomass, usually in the form of wood chip, is an exciting new opportunity in the UK, particularly with the introduction of very much higher value ROCs for electricity generated from biomass systems.

The Government has signalled that a high proportion of the 60% CO2 reduction target by 2050 will be met by CHP systems and that community heating also has a significant role to play.

New local arrangements in the form of energy services companies are often a prerequisite to the establishment of successful local schemes and this is an area where Hestia is well placed to advise.
