Hestia has been providing renewable energy solutions to property owners, businesses and Government agencies since 1993. We offer market-leading technology from Germany and around the world. Our thinking is long-term and we guarantee innovation to optimise your return on investment. Putting solar PV on your roof is a sensible choice - good for the environment and because it makes good business sense.

Why you should consider using Hestia?… Are we reputable, what do we know about the business case for a capital investment of this kind?  What are the next steps? How will we ensure that your project is delivered safely for your employees and on schedule?

We’ll be delighted to answer these and a host of further questions.  Each project is different so please get in touch and one of our specialists will be pleased to have an initial discussion or visit to make an initial site assessment.

SOLAR PV BENEFITS

Large organisations are responsible for around 10% of the UK’s carbon emissions and are under increasing pressure from Government to reduce them. The sun is a truly sustainable energy source which makes solar PV an excellent green energy option with unique benefits:

1. Solar PV can meet on-site electricity needs for lighting, heating & cooling and processes. Optimal for sites which have reasonable energy demands during the day.

2. Environmentally responsible. Can meet CRC & other carbon reduction responsibilities.

3. Reduce your carbon footprint. A typical warehouse installation of 50kWp occupying some 300m2 will save 500 tonnes of carbon over 25 years of operation.refer to case below

4. An attractive multi-site income opportunity for businesses with geographically separate operations to install more solar and attract the higher tariff rate for all sites.

5. Investment returns of more than 10% per annum initially rising with annual RPI adjustments.

6. A safe, well proven technology. Reliable and low maintenance that comes from having no moving parts.

7. Opportunity to ‘lock in’ to current tariff structure will ensure that property values increase as a result of solar installations. As energy bills increase, in the long term, properties that already have panels will be increasingly in demand.

8. Silent operation and low visual intrusion makes planning consent a straightforward process that we will manage on your behalf.

WHAT YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT

There are a several factors which need to play a part in your decision to install solar PV. Some of the key issues are covered here but one of our solar specialists can help with any specific concerns. We have been providing independent energy efficiency and renewable energy advice for over a decade.

With an experienced partner, risks can be minimised. A few initial points to consider:

Is solar PV right for you?

  • Is your company meeting its CRC targets (a mandatory scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency and cutting emissions in large organisations)?
  • Do you have the necessary capital, or would you look for finance support?

Choosing the right PV solution

  • Not all roofs are suitable. The best roofs are SW through SE facing and have adequate design strength. Hestia offer solutions for solar on 'lighter' roof types.
  • Is any asbestos present in the roofing material?
  • Is there adequate roof space for a 50kW system?
  • How much electricity will be consumed on-site?

Planning permission

  • Planning consent will be required although in our experience, this is almost always a straightforward process.
  • Our independent planning specialist has 100% success rate with larger scale solar installations.

Electricity networks

  • Does the local network have adequate capacity to export the electricity you will generate, or will it need 'strengthening'?
  • Hestia are able to quickly determine whether an application for the connection of your solar PV generating station by your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) is likely to be allowed.
  • We would encourage all potential customers to establish the facts regarding local connection options at a very early stage in considering a solar PV project.

SolarProspector™

Hestia has developed a proprietary online tool, which is currently the UK's most sophisticated web based technology available to assess the potential for installing solar PV on a roof. Indentify your roof using aerial imagery and overlay accurately scaled solar panels onto it. Obtain your personal report detailing potential system size, electricity generation and savings.

Either try it yourself online, or call us and one of our specialists can assess the potential for installing solar PV on your property.
